This
year we were also blessed to dedicate a new Pentecost Banner that was made by
Heidi McGlauflin. At the center of
the banner is the UCC emblem which is based on Acts 1:8. Jesus before he ascends to heaven Jesus
says to the disciples: “You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem (first quarter
of the upper circle which represents the earth), Judea and Samaria (second
quart of the upper circle) and to the ends of the earth (lower half of the
circle). The crown at the top of
the cross represents the risen Christ who reigns in glory.
Around
the cross is the word witnesses in English, Spanish, Swahili, Russian, Hindi
and Chinese.
